Today when my mom came, she set me up with my hay snack, got Sparky and gave him a hay snack and then opened up my door in my stall where my duds are kept and started pulling stuff out. I didn't know what she was doing. It seemed pretty strange and i wondered if we were moving again. I sure hoped not - last time I moved, it took me a while to get used to my new stall and now I like it and I know my neighbors and I'm comfy there. I was busy eating though so I didn't worry too much.
But just as she finished cleaning my stall, my Daddy showed up! He had lots of carrots like he always does and he petted me and said, "Hi Bella!" and "Hi Sparky!" He gave Spark some carrots too but that was okay because Sparky is my best friend after all and it wouldn't be fair if he didn't get any carrots. Then he went in my stall and started banging around in my door room so I knew he was fixing something. That's what dads do.
Moms stayed and talked to him for a little bit but then she took me and Spark down the road and I knew we were going to turn out. I was a little excited. I didn't go out yesterday because of my bite and I haven't had a chance to have a good run for a while so I was looking forward to it. Plus I haven't been out with Sparky for ages. He was happy too. Usually he walks slower than me and it's awkward for Mom to walk both of us because I'm going too fast and he's going too slow but today we walked at the same speed and she kept telling us what Good Ponies we were being.
She brought us to the Pony Arena which is my favorite arena for a turnout. It's big and round and you can really get going in it. Plus the water trough is there and sure enough, she let me stop and get a drink and play in it before we went in. I dunked my head right in like I always do. It feels so good and the water gets up my nose and tickles. Then I snort it out and it makes bubbles. I wish I had a water trough in my stall. My bucket is okay but it's not big enough to play in properly.
As soon as Mom took my lead off, I trotted across the arena. I was ready to run! I danced around Spark a bit and invited him to play but he wasn't in the mood to run much. He trotted a little bit with me just to be friendly but he mostly wanted to play bite face. I needed to run first though and as soon as Mom twirled her lead rope, I took off running and bucking and playing! It was so much fun!
I raced around in circles and then I rushed over to the far gate and stopped. I stood there with my head up high for a minute and then I took off running again, straight across the arena toward the fence! I was going so fast I could barely stop in time but somehow I did. Then I raced down to the gate by the trough, stopped and bucked, then pivoted and galloped right past my mom, ducking my head and twisting my butt as I kicked up my heels. She was laughing because it was pretty obvious I was having a good time.
I ran around like that for a little bit and worked up a sweat in a hurry because it was hot today. There were people up by the parking lot watching me and I could tell that they thought I looked pretty when I ran. That made me even more excited and I'd stop and look at them and then tear off again! One time though, I took a big stride and one of my front shoes pulled right off. It was a little loose anyway and I just caught it with my hind foot. Mom picked it up and I slowed down after that. I'd chipped a little bit of hoof off when I threw it and it felt a little tender when I ran. Mom said it was okay though. She said the Shoe Man is coming in just a few days.
When I was all done running, Mom went and sat on the fence and Sparky and I played some bite face. I like playing bite face with Spark but he's awfully good at it! I can hardly ever get him. He snakes his head down and comes up at me from below and I can't figure out how to get away from that. I did grab his halter once and that was funny. He pulled it away and reared a little bit and I reared back and that was fun. That's how horses play, you know.
Then we just walked around for a little bit and looked for stuff to eat and after a while, we came over to the gate and just stood there waiting for Mom to take us home. We were ready to go at that point so she hopped down and put our leads back on and brought us out. I spooked a little bit in the parking lot when I heard a funny noise but Mom just quietly talked to me and I realized it was nothing. I was still kind of excited from all that running. But the walk back to the barn calmed me down.
Mom tied Spark near his feeding place and washed me off, then she put some medicine on my bite and put me in my stall. I was hoping she'd feed me and I banged on my door to remind her but she just yelled at me so I stopped. She went off and finished taking care of Spark - I saw her lead him past my stall back to the pasture. Then she came into my stall carrying a pile of blankets.
I came over to sniff them and I could tell they were Spark's by the smell. She opened up my door and I could see that my dad had put a shelf up and in there. My blankets were piled up neatly on one side of it and now Mom piled Spark's up on the other side. I poked my head in to have a good sniff. It's a nice shelf and it makes my room even nicer than it was. I love my dad. He makes good things for me.
Mom shooed me away when I started pulling things down. I just wanted to see them a little closer, that's all. They're my things. She never lets me play with anything. But she did give me a little more hay and then she brought me my bucket dinner. It had more of that nasty medicine in it that I don't like, probably because my bite's not all better yet. I'll be glad when it is. I hate having to eat medicine. But it sure was fun to play during turnout.
