That's what my mom said to me when she got to the barn today. I don't know what she meant but it sounded nice. I'm pretty independent as I've mentioned before so maybe she was making a joke.
It was pretty hot today and I didn't much feel like riding but as it turned out, I didn't have to. Mom got me out of my stall and gave me my hay snack and as soon as I stepped out, Sparky gave me a nice friendly whinny from the pasture. Mom laughed and went to get him and we had a hay snack together. I was glad. We haven't had a chance to be together for a couple of days and we get so we miss each other. I nuzzled him when he walked up and gave him a little nip on the nose but it was just to say hello. He didn't mind. He knows I don't mean anything bad.
Mom cleaned my stall and gave us a quick brush, then she cleaned our feet and put fly spray on us. Then she grabbed my lead and Sparky's and started leading both of us down the road. That was different. She's only led us together a couple of times. One time was in the Round Pen and it was just simple, around and around. Another time she led us both from the tack boxes to my stall where she put me in, and then led Spark on to the pasture. That was just a short walk.
This was different. She walked us right out and away from the barn and the tack boxes and the Flat Arena, down toward the Little Rolling Arena and the hay barn. It was pretty odd and we weren't sure what was going on. Spark kept stopping. He walks a little slower than me anyway so I was walking ahead and he was walking behind. Then he'd stop and Mom would be kind of stretched out between us. I guess it must have been a little awkward.
I tried to be good and stopped when she told me to and went again when she said. And once we got past the pony pasture, Spark started walking a lot better so we went right along. We both realized at that point that we were probably going to the Pony Arena to turnout and that seemed like fun. Sure enough, we turned to walk through the hay barn and Mom let us stop at the water trough.
I love playing in the water trough so I had a long drink and then dunked my face in and blew bubbles and stuff. Spark got brave enough to reach out and carefully nibble the edge of the trough which was a lot more than he did last time. Then Mom brought us to the gate. Spark and I both got a little excited because we could hear noises and talking from beyond the fence. There's a house or something back there and I see people coming and going sometimes but you can't really see very well because there are lots of bushes and trees hanging over the fence. It's sometimes a little scary. When you can't tell what's making noise it could be anything.
So when Mom unclipped our lead ropes, we both cantered away with our tails up, snorting. It was fun! We both felt pretty frisky and when Mom grabbed a lunge whip that was nearby, we didn't need much encouragement to start running around. We had a great time! We ran, and kicked up our heels, and snorted. Then we played some bite face and ran again! It was good to have a nice turnout with Spark. We haven't been out together in a big arena in a while and sometimes one of us doesn't feel like playing. Today we both did and we got a little hot and sweaty but it felt good.
We finally settled down and just started walking around sniffing poop and looking for things to eat. After a while, a person with a horse came so we had to leave. Mom clipped our leads on and we dropped right in one on either side of her like we'd been walking like that forever. We walked so nicely back to the barn - Mom called us Goodponies more than once. We both felt good about that.
By the time we got back, we were all cooled out and my alfalfa was waiting for me. Mom put me in my stall and gave Spark his bucket dinner and brought me mine. It was a good ending to a fun day.
