I was getting worried about her. And I was kind of wondering if everyone had forgotten me yesterday because I had gotten my alfalfa and finished it all and it was getting kind of late and no one had come to see me yet. There was a lot going on at the barn. Kia's mom was there with her trailer and she was parking it and getting stuff ready for Kia to go on one of her trips somewhere. Kia's always going somewhere and her trailer is really big. There were also some other people there riding and taking care of their horses so it was sort of noisy and crazy. But in the middle of all of it, I suddenly heard my mom's voice calling my name!
Well, I let out a whinny and hurried into my stall and pretty soon I saw her and Sparky's mom coming. I was pretty bouncy, I'm afraid. I was excited by the time of day, and all the goings on, plus it was kind of cool out which makes me frisky. I was happy to see my mom but I was also impatient because I didn't know what was going on. So I didn't notice at first that she was all wrapped up with a bandage on her leg.
Sparky's mom took me out my stall and started to lead me toward the Round Pen and I got sort of bouncy and silly and pulled and twirled a bit. She got right after me and made me back up a long way and that's when I saw my mom's leg. She had a big black shoe on with a bulky bandage that went halfway up, almost to her knee. She couldn't walk very well in it. She limped and had to go really slow. I didn't understand any of it. I was anxious and fussy and a little bit mad because I'm used to getting a hay snack before I work but I didn't get one at all.
Sparky's mom put me in the Round Pen and my mom came in with me. As soon as the gate was shut, I started cantering around really fast. I was frisky and fussy and the weather felt good, nice and cool. Mom didn't need to ask me to go at all. She just stood in the center with the whip in her hand and watched me go and I just ran and ran. She just left me alone to do it.
After a while, I calmed down a little bit and she started asking me to trot, then to canter again, then to walk - that sort of thing. I was ready to listen by that time and I did it all. I was still feeling really good and ready to go but I wasn't anxious anymore. Finally, she asked me to stop and that's when I came over to her to say hello properly. I sniffed her bandage all over - it was different from any bandage I ever saw. It was hard, like my hooves, instead of being all soft like bandages usually are. Really strange. I was a Good Girl though and didn't try to play with it even though I do like to play with Mom's shoes. I thought maybe I shouldn't if she was on stall rest.
Spark's mom came and got me after a while and I was sort of bratty going back to my stall. I've just been feeling sort of frisky and bouncy and I'm not sure why. I get a little out of sorts when my routine gets changed. I wasn't bad - not really. Well, not too bad. Just bouncy.
Mom gave me my bucket dinner and said good night to me. I was glad to get it and I kind of kicked the wall a little bit and she had to make her Bad Girl noise at me. I have to try to be less anxious. I don't want her to get mad at me and not come to visit anymore.
